In the early days of the war against terrorism, the US Navy decided they had interrogated a certain suspected terrorist long enough.  In a benevolent gesture, the Navy gave the suspect a new shirt, $20 in cash to use on his trip, and also a used car in which he could travel.  The Navy then released the suspect to his own recognizance.
