Inertia is One Bad Thang... Goofy Stuff / Back Home
I don't know how many of us remember that old photo taken in the aftermath of a major hurricane a long time ago. Hurricane Camille, I think it was. The photo showed a stick of hay straw skewered all the way through a telephone pole, protruding about a foot on both sides of the pole. I've always wondered how the telephone pole stayed standing under such wind force. The concept of that much energy is mind boggling.
I was driving along in Chester County on South Carolina state highway 97 yesterday (Saturday, February 26), about a quarter mile from the Chester/York County line. Trees, grass, stripes in the road, speed limit sign, more grass...wait a minute. Did I see THAT?....No way. I had my camera with me, so I turned around in the road and went back. Yep, I really did see what I thought I did.
What are the chances of throwing a great big malt liquor bottle out of a car window at a road sign (obviously at a tremendous rate of speed), and having the bottle go THROUGH the sign...

...but the best part of the story is on the other side...put the bottle through the sign WITHOUT breaking the bottle!

Bizarre indeed from any and every angle...
